The client receives the entire computing infrastructure from servers to operating systems needed to implement his own software solutions. He manages the resources himself: controls the operating systems, installs the software, customizes the platform and is responsible for the security of the used environment.
Who is suitable for IaaS services
It is quite difficult to ensure the availability of a powerful infrastructure based on a server room in the office. Full-fledged operation requires not only servers, but also additional switches, data storage systems, a high level of redundancy in power supply and Internet availability. It is more practical, convenient and safe to place the infrastructure in the cloud.
IaaS capabilities are no less than those of physical servers. The client receives fault-tolerant cloud resources and a virtual performance system, while avoiding unnecessary expenses on hardware.
Infrastructure as a service is most often needed by companies that:
- experience significant fluctuations in the load on the IT infrastructure;
- do not have free funds to purchase hardware (but demand high speed of development or project closure);
- want to solve the issue of scaling in a matter of hours, without long waiting times;
- interested in reducing operating costs, so they place part of their systems in the cloud;
- want to improve the performance of highly loaded applications;
- involved in setting up experiments or testing hypotheses that require isolated capacity.
In what situations IaaS is needed
The main scenarios of using infrastructure as a service concern the development and testing environments for new products, backup, website hosting, high-performance computing, creation of backup sites for infrastructure duplication, and optimization of work under peak loads.
IaaS allows virtualizing physical servers and storage, creating virtual machines, LAN network between them, increasing security settings when creating a terminal server, transforming virtual machines into clusters, etc.
IaaS is a good solution for businesses when they need to move all or almost their entire infrastructure to the cloud. For example, a company already has a physical server, but as the business grows, its resources become insufficient. The easiest scaling option is to select virtual resources that will suffice for different departments: from developers to sales.

Cloud service is 2-3 times cheaper than in-house infrastructure, while it is suitable for deploying and launching IT solutions of any complexity. Renting a virtual server infrastructure allows you to optimize costs and reduce capital investments.

IaaS facilitates optimization and migration of isolated infrastructure. The solution is relevant in case of a complete hardware upgrade, unification of the management system using a single control and monitoring interface, as well as when creating a startup (IT infrastructure) from scratch.
What IaaS models are there
When connecting to CloudKleyer, IaaS service does not necessarily mean a complete relocation to the cloud. At the request of the client, highly loaded services can be dynamically migrated and individual elements of the IT infrastructure or business applications can be installed on the hardware.
There are three basic deployment models.
- Public cloud. Resources are designed to be shared, the cloud is hosted in a data center, and the physical infrastructure is wholly owned and managed by the provider.
- Private cloud. Suitable for a company with a multi-level hierarchy (several structural divisions). It can be organized both in the data center and on the client’s premises. In any case, the data center will act as the physical infrastructure on top of which the private IaaS is created.
- Hybrid. It is a combination of two or more physical and cloud infrastructures linked by applications, software, and information transfer technology. It is often used when resources are scarce or required for a short period of time.
